Help operating a relay

Recommended Posts

Hello before i begin i would like to say i am a complete strange to electronics so anything you answer please explain in a very simple way thank you  ;)

I am trying to modifiy a tone buzzer to operate a relay. I have got a 3v relay. the voltage across the buzzer peaks at about 2.3v (On loudest setting of which i require it to work on all settings lowest peak is about1v) and has very little current. When i removed the buzzer and replace it with the relay the contacts do not close the resistance of the coil is about 50 ohms. When the buzzer was on its loudest setting the relay began to act like a buzzer (You could hear the sound ???)

The equipement itself is a remote handset that triggers a buzzer when somthing happens the otherend. It takes two 1.5v small batteries (Not AAA) and uses FM signals to transmit. Not sure what will be of use to you but if you require any other details please just ask but as i say please explain (It may look like i now a bit but i don't know that much)

Once again thank you in advance for you help

Carl
