audioguru Posted June 21, 2006 Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 A simple inverter is an oscillator driving two push-pull power transistors that switch a battery's current into a stepup transformer.An inverter isn't perfect so wastes some power by getting warm. About 120W must come from a battery to get 100W output from the inverter. The battery must be pretty big and heavy to supply 120W for a few hours.
