Unwise Induction plate experiments

Hello, all

The availability of second hand microwave ovens has led to a large group of experimenters with this equipment. (http://amasci.com/weird/microexp.html)
The strange thing is that I was unable to find anything similar for induction plates.
Induction plates may be suited for similar wicked experiments and have the benefit of requiring no faraday cage.
So that is why i bought a second hand induction plate and now I'm trying to make a new coil in which i would like to melt some metal (for starters). First I will have to measure the inductance of the existing coil somehow.

I would like to know if there are other people out there who have had the same idea or have other potentially destructive suggestions for utilizing the induction heater. Maybe i can also post some photo's so you can at least see the inner workings. Induction heaters may be a nice source for specific components as well.
