johnnie707
Hello,My son and his wife will have to replace their house air conditioner. Live in Mass.Typical 3 bedroom Split style.I'm trying to help them out a bit, but certainly no expert with this.Unit is very old now, and the type where the condenser is located outside, and the evaporator is mounted to the duct work by the furnace (hot air heating system). Before we call in some contractors, thought I'd ask you experts heIs Trane still considered the "best" brand re reliability, etc. ?I guess most important, are there any brands (or models) to stay away from ?Any thoughts on what to ask contractor, things to look out for, gotchas, etc. would be most appreciated. Thanks,
innovate.invent
Your best bet is to talk to the HVAC contractors. If you talk to a big company they probably have a contract with a specific brand and they will sell you that one. If you talk to a smaller company they will most likely buy from a wholesaler and probably have shopped around for the one that is going to give them the least amount of trouble as they will guarantee it and have to come back to fix it if it breaks on them.Buy the one with the best "full warranty" as most of them are made in china regardless of brand.oh and I'm sure Danby doesn't make a central air system but they are shit if they do :P
