transistr tester

i am doing a transistor tester whcih will test if the transistor is npn or pnp.but it also has to indetify the transistr's pin configuration e.g base,collector and base and display on lcd.i knw how to test for the pins using a multimeter,but what i don't knw is how i am gonna do it in my project.pls give ideas.
