special_k
Hi all. This is my first post here! I've been hunting around the net for a suitable interface for a theoretical design. I plan to design and build a basic fibre optic illuminator unit such as these: http://www.fiberopticproducts.com/Lightunits.htmI like the clinch nut interface idea as it will easily grip any number of unsheathed cable that I require, however I'm not so sure how I would interface with a led cluster module (pcb mount). I have seen heat shrink used to interface fibre with discrete led's but not sure if this would work for a cluster. thanks in advance. special_k
What I have called the clinch nut is more properly known as a cable gland.
Hero999
Yes, a cable gland will work. Most electrical suppliers sell them.YOu could use a small plastic enclosure for the PCB and put the fibre optics in the gland opposite the PCB.
