Accelerometer Triggered Light/Laser

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

While I attended some university-level electronics courses ~20 years ago, I have been pretty a much a software guy ever since.  I have a small electronics project that I'm undertaking and would appreciate guidance from the "experts" to get me started in the right direction.

What I'm trying to build is a small, self-contained, battery operated unit that is capable of detecting an acceleration threshold (and ideally and acceleration "profile") along a single axis and, in response to the acceleration threshold being exceeded, provide power to a light for a specific period of time (ideally configurable).

The light/laser diode module that I'm looking at has an operating voltage of 3 to 5 VDC and an operating current of <60 mA.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions re. a recommended approach/design for this system, as well as any recommendations re. components.

Many thanks
