Thinking about using Arduino as a controller, fast photodiode (with response time ~1 ns), op amp to amplify diode signal, and time-to-digital converter to measure time between sending and receiving laser beam and then send data to Arduino. BTW, pulse laser driver might be needed.. I don't actually get it..
