19V 2.6A Monitor Ok To Run 3.16A Power Pack?

Hi all, im wondering if the 19V 3.16A power adapter that I got with my LCD Monitor will cause any troubles etc or shorten the monitors lifespan as their is an extra 0.56A running to the monitor. The Monitor is rated for 19V 2.6A power on DC.

The extra 0.56A will not run to the monitor but instead the monitor will consume the needed curent (maximum 2.6 Amps here). No issue at all, just ensure that both connectors have same polarity (pinout) !!

Stan, look carefully for a plus or minus sign on the connectors itself or on the power pack label. you can also check on the monitor jack or on is label.

do you have a multimeter ?
of so in DC volts and a range that is higher than 19V
check the inner and outer connectors of the plug and determine which one is negative and which is positive

Also it's seems to be engraved on the monitor just above the jack (a close-up pic of this area can help)

it just says DC above plug which is engraved... its a circle plug, goes in one way and that's in... attached is the power brick and the sticker on the back...

Why do i need to look this up? There is only one way for the monitor to be plugged into the brick as it is just a circle... and the power brick is a 3 pin that only goes in one way as the centre pin is raised

ok and if its been running for 6+ hours non stop, then it must be connected in the correct polarity and is receiving enough and the correct voltage and amperage?

However if you go willy nilly plugging in adapters without checking their polarity you are likely to make a potentially expensive mistake one day.

There is a simple way to check, but you've resisted us telling you what it is.
