Good chance radio is seeing high SWR out of spec, something has changed on
antenna feed or driven element connections or cable short or....

exactly, probably going into a low poer TX or shutting down the TX completely so that it doesnt get damaged

So, @cmutai ... the solution is probably simple , check your antenna and coax feed for problems

You could also get a 50Ohm dummy load capable of the power output rating of the transmitter
and see if you still get a warning transmitting into a good load

Could be a 'comms' issue 'tween tx and ATU. Many manufaturers use a multi-core as well as the RF coaxial feed. The multi-core can be a full comms path (send/receive) or a simpler relay selection signal with VSWR 'error feedback'. This is why we need to know make/manufacture as there can be multiple reaons for an 'error'. Using Occams Razor I agree with the above though - probably something as simple as the antenna wire fallen off the coupler!
