The screen/graphics card seems like it fade out or damaged. What may it cause and does it worth to repair?

Any ideas of what may it cause and does it worth to repair?

A person gave me it as a donation with no explanation what happened. Right now I think whether repaire or not and I thank you for any advice and opinion...

It seems like the screen shows on the background the image (that was previously very bright) and now it looks like a 'ghost' on any screen if it's darker than previous bright one. It appears even on PC loading (see the gif) or it appears in OS if previously I went to BIOS (it was very bright) and then i started any OS (linux or windows) and see the desktop screen (it's darker) at the same time I may see the BIOS 'ghost' as the background.

Is the graphic card or screen dead?

I reassembled the laptop, checked the motherboard, but i found no burned places or 'bad' state of elements on sight (im not a specialist but understand the basics). The cooler was 50% dusty (so maybe it was overheated?) So i cleaned it and replaced thermal compound on the chips (they looked normal) but that didnt help.

You say it's a laptop. That means there is no separate graphics card. chances of repair are highly unlikely
unless you can get service information for it and that is even less likely to be done

only easier possibility would be if the high voltage power supply to the backlighting fluoro tubes is failing.
almost all LCD displays of several years back and older used fluorescent backlights rather than LED backlighting

Very quickly ...Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL).
Your back light fluorescent lamp needs high voltage AC. The DC supply voltage to your laptop is transformed
into AC by what is called an high voltage AC inverter transformer.
For DIY hobbyist it would not be worth it for repair. But that is only my opinion. Because I have repaired them for personal use and I wouldn't do it again; it's a pain in the backside.
