I've been given a Makita LXT Radio DMR209 to repair.
There is a blown component in the voltage regulator circuit, I assume it was a resistor.

Does anyone have an intact DMR209 (or similar) board on which the component can be positively identified?
Doing a search I've seen a few DMR2xx boards with blown components in this area, design flaw?

Attached :- photo of the damaged area,
cct trace of the associated components

Write it off as;B.E.R.
Beyond Economic Repair. seems to be a common problem, if you do find the component although through hole components are used the PCB Vias suggest multilayer board, the three pin through whole component took out associated traces you cannot see…
If you must, I would research all DMR’s1xx,2xx,3xx. this is pure speculation & I hate doing that, but in my travels, I have seen it many times before….

re BER - I can get a replacement board for a 1/3 of the price of a new new unit
re multilayer board - double sided only, tracks are traceable/ repairable
re 3 pin through hole component - a 2 pin SMC is what has gone.

The print "B C E" is indication for a bipolar transistor, not a resistor. Without a schematic or a working reference board there is no chance to find out what is actually needed in this position.

The (SMD)Surface Mount Device
With the letter T indicates a time delay fuse, or also known as slow blow fuse & suffered a very large in rush current I would check the associated transistor out of circuit for proper operations.
Good luck with the traces…

Source of burn is a multilayer ceramic capacitor they fail short circuit , due mechanical stresses ,you’re client droped the radio creating a low resistance path across the electrodes burning off the confourmal coating of adjacent B+(+ve) trace (max smoke).
When repaired apply power and run for 24 hours (burn in process). No pun intended….;)
