Hey, anyone want something they can take into space?

LOL, from the page itself: USA CUSTOMERS- NO MEANS TO TEST, however will offer a 30 day guarantee to try it out fully with right of return. Doesn't everyone have space shuttle connections to be made around the house?

    LED Driver Wattage Question

LOL - maybe, I need the end result of this project sooner than that! I did read a bit on swItchers and posted a video recently in our general q's section so I have some basic understanding of the operation.

    LED Driver Wattage Question

The thought did cross my mind ;), but being a switch mode psu - I really didnt want to spend the next year or more figuring that out :p. I actually went a different route with 1w led's and saved about 60 % of the cost of the whole project :D.

    Electronics book

Yes, it was $100 U.S. - a bit much for such an old title! I think it was from the 70's.

    Electronics book

Unless you have access to it at your library, it shows up as $100. Here is a preview to it from google.

    Electronics book

I haven't come across a book that starts there, most start at the basics and work there way up, but at least that is what I have seen... Quick google check produces: http://www.circuitstoday.com/3-great-books-to-learn-555-timer-circuits-and-projects and of all things, its Forrest Mims! LOL...

I guess you could say that. Here is a good link, check out the left side, there is a link to the original schematic hand drawn by the looks of it by Mr. F. Faggin!!

    LED Driver Wattage Question

There are plenty of suitable finds on e-bay. Don't forget, all the electronics manufacturing takes place in China (at least a fair majority) and so naturally its an easy way to purchase items at wholesale or factory pricing. 1w and 3w led's for literally dimes a piece, etc. If you are careful...

    LED Driver Wattage Question

Since I need 36watts, or close to it, the smaller unit may or may not work. As for falsifying specs, I am sure it happens all the time, so long as it works most of the time for most of the people, it becomes a numbers game. How many units can I sell vs. how many are returned. Just my opinion.

    LED Driver Wattage Question

That is kind of why I was leaning towards getting the larger unit, assuming that the specs are not what they say. As you say, can you trust ANY of the labeling, which you have a good point - whether the 40w or the 650mA x 60V is all suspect. I guess I will get the larger one and hope it works...

    LED Driver Wattage Question

simple, true, but I don't have the unit, so instead of ordering it and finding it not to work, I ask the questions first. Smart, eh?

    LED Driver Wattage Question

I don't believe everything I read without some thought, especially from an unknown vendor, hence why I ask. The math correlates with 39 watts, true enough, but the aforementioned questions stand unanswered. Thanks.

    Electronics book

I am not sure what you mean by transistor based timers, unless of course you mean microcontrollers! Then I do know some little about those ;-) I think I understand what you mean re: your major. Engineer, but with the logistics side of the major. Perhaps like six sigma, best work practice and...

    Electronics book

When you mention timers, the beginning of timers are r-c circuits. After that it would proceed to IC based timers like the 555 timer. There is a really good website on the 555, http://www.doctronics.co.uk/555.htm As for majors, its certainly not too late! If you are still in school you...

    Electronics book

Since you have the background you might appreciate Grob's Basic Electronics, just fast forward to chapter 21 or 22 where they start to discuss RC circuits. You might also find The Art of Electronics helpful as it is more geared towards the application of electronics and how to use devices in...

    LED Driver Wattage Question

Hi all, I am looking at some LED drivers from Flea-Bay ;-) I am confused on the markings and I am thinking its just cheap marketing techniques to get you to buy under rated products. Here is an example...
