    Tone for thought..

    Q. when using a series parallel tone circuit, should the rest of the components be connected in a similar fashion? ie. should the pickups be parallel and the feeds series, or the other way around? The Baxandall is not used in many guitars, due to the number of components it takes to build the...

    Tone for thought..

The circuit I posted is a "Baxandall" tone circuit introduced by Peter Baxandall in the 50's, 1952 I think. I think I said I am looking for tones that are similar to the original Fender Jazzmaster...??. anyone know where I can find some of the scope pics of this guitar? Anyway I was wondering...

    Hall effect ignition

I once theorized a spinning motor with hall effect style switches attached to its internal perimeter. the electric motor would then make a dedicated switch that could be tuned to the engine RPM for proper firing sequence.... I need one of these for a first gen venture royale if you get it...

    Tone for thought..

I Started a new guitar kit for xmas. It is listed as a Jazzmaster style kit. I am building a rhythm jazz guitar. It has a strat style pickup configuration, and so I am really excited about my electronics options! I got my hands on 3 single sized humbuckers, and the switches I need for complete...

    EMI suppression

I have heard of people using ferrite beads for impulse suppression. The only way I know how to stop EMI is with a loaded antenna.

    Type of sensor for project

My hatchet always misses, and my overthinking always fails me... I think I need an arduino and some ingenuity. Like I said it is a challenge that I think someone might enjoy... even me. I thought about it and instead of guessing about life and death, chicken dispatching requires a more proper...

    Chips and PN junctions

Is there a way to make a cathode driven driver for LED segments, operate an anode driven set of LED segments? (whooo whoo!!) I would like to say no... and go another direction, honest! How about an np|pn junction? I have heard something about these, but never considered it an advanced state...

    Type of sensor for project

I don't know... have you ever tried to finish a chicken(death blow, slit troat)? Early this year I attempted to build a guiloteen with a thick machette and an x shaped frame that forced the neck and head into a rather compromising position...It failed badly and I feel horrible... The feathers on...

    incompatible arduino components

I got an cheap arduino kit for fun and to extend my electronics knowledge from a good working state to a hack and slay state... I decided to build components rather than devices... well the kit has a lot of potential as pieces parts for larger projects... so I started with commonly available and...

    Multimeter reading of LED

Is forward voltage, the voltage after a devices voltage drop?

    Multimeter reading of LED

The measurement is of forward voltage drop, right? and the setting on the multimeter is the diode setting, it doesn't read the diode backwards right? OK so when you test an LED and it says 1730 and you are supposed to be figuring out the proper resistor to use so you don't burn out the...

Why I don't like wall warts

I think this is one of those check the specs of the wart online and then buy the right one questions but.... Why can't I read the 2a that the wart is supposed to be delivering? I metered it and it just fluctuates between 0 and 0.8a? 12.29v .08a out of a 12v 2a wart

    Guitar Amp Modification

Crunch is a transwave synthesizer form, it has been a fairly well kept secret for a long long time, because it is called crunch guitar, but its not really guitar, its synthesized. What your crunch button does, is turns on a chip that has the synthesizer sound on it. then re-routes the signal...

Getting Signal Voltage From Source Power

0 dBm I think thats it. 1 milliwatt.. that is the point at which wattage is not capable of creating exponential heat.... I think... Its been along long time since I did any electronics!

this is not a chat site...

I guess I got used to the IRC rooms where everyone talks about nothing at the same time. anyway... I have another one of my vague questions... How smart (how much electronics would someone need to know) to create a custom ECM for a motorcycle that was not designed for one, with OBD interface...

Now why the center tapped inductor coil driving the circuit? Two of these- The coils look OK 12.5ohms 426.9mH 12.4 ohms 442.3mH must have been a bad cap. I thought I better check them. Where can I find a metallic paper radial 6100nf cap?

The other capacitor is reading 6049nf but still has a 750k resistor on it. I am assuming the cap is bad! and it needs replaced if the light is to work again. double check cap read 15.03nf thats like 5546nf off... thats alot off. these look like some kind of special capacitors... should I...
