    Negative Voltage #2

Before you know it, someone will bring up firing squads armed with 12 gauge shotguns loaded with maggots. Then things really get weird

    The Latest Build

I'm sure the mac has some flavor of DAW with VST support. I think VST was born on mac to begin with.

    The Latest Build

To tell you the truth, I've been surfing the web for this stuff again. If for no other reason than a little inspiration for some tone benders. I have nearly everything I want in my signal chain, so motivation is a little hard to come by. Maybe this will tip the balance.

    Back to the Breadboard

I was stabbing around the interwebs hunting down a particular set of hard to find VST plugins. I found them. Since you seem to record samples of your work, these might interest you, Particularly "5orcery". five band mastering compressor...

That should handle the switch based housekeeping for most of your future pedals.

figured I'd give KiCad a whirl ...It has some usable symbols but .. I said screw it and drew it by hand over some printed symbols. Note the Normally open switched input jack to break battery negative when not in use. This should get you into and back out of trouble for this, and future builds.

at some point Ill try to draft up the complete deal for you, including the n.o. switched input jack to cut power to the board when not in use.

Help with flash chip datasheet, says maximum voltage on pins is 0.5V?

.5v is an impractical limit in this application. As such, I'm going to side with typonese

    Back to the Breadboard

assuming correct usage of the barrel jacks switched pin, this will do. Now ... you get to tear it all down and reapply it to a full pedal to include the board and perhaps a normally open switched 1/4" input jack for the full meal deal. You have a usable block to build with though

MMMkay .... when you plug in with an adapter ... is the adapter powered or are you plugging in non live? If not live, you have the jack switch in proper use .. if powered, "2" and "3" are backwards. Now your stomp switch is just a show piece in your current drawing. but that's okay for now...

here is a schemmy diagram of your power jack. If, you connect your battery to post 3 and your board to post 2, the normally closed switch gives the battery a path to power the board in condition 1 (no external power connected) In condition 2, your power plug opens the switch so that the battery...

You have 3 lugs on your power connector. One of them is a switch. What you have drawn at the right lug ( assuming this is the switched lug ) will not allow the battery to disconnect when the plug is used. This will still work, until the battery explodes. Reliability may suffer thereafter.

Basically, delete the lead from the switch lug to 4.7 and you should be alright
  15. VenomBallistics

    Back to the Breadboard

The switch is normally closed when nothing is plugged into the barrel port. So .. the switch lug goes to battery, giving it a path to the board. As soon as you plug into it, the switch opens, PSU takes over while the battery is disconnected.

    Back to the Breadboard

Ummm nope. You will apply voltage to the battery rather than switch to the barrel
  17. VenomBallistics

    Back to the Breadboard

Probably not. Set to ohms mode and test across said 1M to be sure, but I'm betting that it's fine, and your volt meter has an impedance low enough to sink the remaining current
  18. VenomBallistics

    Back to the Breadboard

likely not. most of these things are rated to have their outputs shorted to ground indefinitely. About the only way to kill them is reverse power

round actuator .... symmetrical pin grid ...... Seems to me these switches carry the potential of being rotated 90 degrees and confusing you.
