What do you all think is the key to achieving efficient electric transportation now?

I like the idea of narrow, high-speed "packet rail". The rail would be confined to tunnels and tubes, and go twice as fast to carry twice as much (freight).

What do you all think is the key to achieving efficient electric transportation now?

I agree, it is hard to see it working in practice. I blame DP, with his "Esophageal Varices" :D

What do you all think is the key to achieving efficient electric transportation now?

(~ no ExaVolts, too...) New Suggestion ... but what about billions of ultratiny robotic ants, all marching at the same speed and in the same direction, down a deep, vee-sided ditch. Say they fill up the ditch... The surface of ants at the edge of the ditch might be hardly moving, while the...

What do you all think is the key to achieving efficient electric transportation now?

Lowering the risk of injury. Not really that that has much to do with efficiency but you can't expect to be safe while going around at high speeds with your body unprotected. A 300 mph skateboard just ain't useful- no matter how cheaply you can run it.

    Life After Layoff

We sure are way "off-topic" but fair enough :) In a similar situation I was lucky enough to find someone who needed help. She was an invalid who didn't feel good about staying with her family. I looked after her for 7 years, as her friend, until she passed. Putting my efforts in on someone...

    Life After Layoff

Hi :) It was crappy health that knocked me out of my job, not layoffs. Still, I unwillingly lost my place in the workforce. Since then, my life has changed very much, from a good income to subsistence on a government pension. I've been keeping myself going by working on an invention the last 18...

DIY Smart Kitchen Projects: Electronics Meets Food

Aww yeh :) Here are a couple ~ An electric kettle that can tell, from the sound the element is making, what the temperature of the water is, and switch off at a predetermined temperature. and A device to cook "periodic eggs".

I need a really good inline connector

Thanks @Sunnysky Generally yes, there is a great need to mechanically secure those tender sprouts and keep them tidy. I'm a bit scared of silicone in this context though - as it goes off it releases acid, which might damage the piezoelectric components. Perhaps the worst of the problem is that...

I need a really good inline connector

Hi People I’ve had a project going for the last couple of years that will soon require me to wire up some piezoelectric crystals… ThorLabs PK4FA3H2P2’s to be exact. These devices come with 75mm wires already soldered onto the chip, so my machine will have these wires sprouting out of it. The...

    The Periodic Egg Cooker

Yes,well... that's what I want too, but I just can't be bothered making periodic eggs by hand more than once. It's hardly a demanding project (except for paying for the bits). :)

    Wiring up a Y90L-2 motor

Hi :) Driving these motors takes heavy currents. And, non-amateur voltages. The capacitors were usually controlled by electromagnetic relays when I did a little bit of this work. I hear that solid state devices can now be used ( but my instincts still say "No" to solid state state solutions...

    The Periodic Egg Cooker

Well nobody's much interested in this little engineering project :) so I would have deleted the thread just now, if I'd had the option.

    Speaker output ohmage without information.

Yes :) I saw educated people going way over the head of the OP, who must have been quite mystified. All the OP wanted was not to blow their amp up. I'd have liked us to simply help him.
