Help on identifying this resistor or inductor

I'll venture a guess that the one pictured is another of same value as the failed one but Kcrypto will have to confirm or deny. By the way, the 'B' in the acronym 'PCB' represents the word 'board' making the term "PCB board" redundant. P.S. Should the decimal place holder for an inductor...

Evonik Cyro is the largest manufacturer of acrylic sheet materials. Extruded sheet is available down to at least 1/16" (0.062") http://www.acrylite-polymers.com/product/acrylite-polymers/en/ Rosco makes lighting filter materials. They have some that go up to 4 mils...

Cost effective prototyping for testing components

Mill-max, Plastronics, Ironwood, etc. make a variety of test sockets for BGA and QFN packages if that's what you're looking for. Proto Advantage makes SMD adapter boards. I have a method for attaching wires to QFN devices then fixing them in a DIP carrier for use on a breadboard.

CreativeLabs L3800 2.1 sound system works fine for 20 minutes

Many modern integrated components have thermal protection capability built in to their design such that once a temperature threshold is exceeded, the device turns off its output until it has cooled to below a reset setpoint. In practical use where an overload condition exists, this leads to...

    Identify a burnt resistor

39Ω (orange, white, black) is a standard value so that's a possibility. Is that a fried inductor just northeast of R1?

Yes. I had a variety of eye candy projects running, mostly unusual LED displays involving sound, plastic optical fiber, etc.

I've always found these art/tech fusion projects interesting. We had an annual art tech festival at one of the colleges I attended. Here are some links related to the project referenced in the thread. http://www.islingtonmill.com/events/coatic-sequence-residency/...

    Zero ohm resistors.

If one were looking for the former HP bench briefs now, I guess they would all be under the Agilent name, at least for test, measurement and power supplies.

    7 x 120mm PC Fan (No LED) + 1 x LED Strip (Flashing) = 12V DC / 3.0 A Power Supply

An energy budget has nothing to do with money. It's about matching the wattage requirements of all loads to the power supply capacity.

    7 x 120mm PC Fan (No LED) + 1 x LED Strip (Flashing) = 12V DC / 3.0 A Power Supply

When calculating energy budgets, a mistake I often see people make is using the device maximum current rating from a label or manual instead of measuring actual current draw under typical conditions.

    Perfboard replacement

Wow; what timing! It's as if someone either doesn't want you to get your parts or wants you to get them at fire sale prices.

    Perfboard replacement

The downside of small remote communities is everything's two weeks away and costs twice as much to ship in. I have cousins that grew up in Ephraim and couldn't wait to get out.

    Perfboard replacement

Your local options are all a few hours away. Central Electronics has been gone for a few years now but there's Kimball, Standard Supply and RaElco in Salt Lake City. It's likely that only RaElco might have anything useful. Another potential source is the area college labs. I don't know if Snow...

Does anyone know the name of this AC power cord adaptor?

If you look closely at the end of the connector where the wires enter, there may be some useful markings.
