    LED amperage question

I have a quick question and Ill delete this topic after I get an answer.  How many mA do I get out of a LED?  The same ammount as it draws?  Less than that?  Or supply minus the draw?  The max supply I may have is 13.5V @ 1A.  I am using a LED as an indicator(with a proper resistor) of a...

    Schematic program

What program does everybody out there use to make their schematics?  I have been using CircuitMaker Student (demo) and I can't have more than 50 components.  I need get a good probram that isn't a demo.

    Resistor wattage

I need a 80 ohm resistor at 1.1 watts.  When you combine reisistors in series does the wattage combine.  So would two 40 ohm 1/2 watt resistors in series be equal to 80 ohm 1 watt instead of using a power resistor? Thanks

    Quick AC question

I'm sorry I have to ask such a dumb question but every othere resourse is eplaining how to uses caps and resistors in AC and can't (to a full extent) answer my question. I can't figure out what AC is.  I know what it stands for and that it goes at 60Hz.  I used to think there was a positive and...

    Simple remote gopher

Being new to electonics I need some advice on building a very simple remote extender. I don't know very much about IR (well I'm certainly starting to in other research) or in using transistors and signal recievers. My seperate question: When you are using a reciever such as an IR one..it has to...

    Simple LED strobe

I'm designing something.  Not sure what.  :o ??? Sort of.  OK nevermind that. I'm still new to electronics and somehow have trouble with 555.  I think I need to spend a day to just figure them out.  Anyway, I need an astable circuit that wil cause LED(s) to blink that can be adjustedd by a...

    LED driving

Say you drive a LED only 50% of the time do you just multiply the amperage by 2 (when you want to)?  Is it that simple?  Then you can apply this idea to other concepts when driving LEDs.

    Microwave LCD is very dim.

Our microwave has a green LCD and it is very very dim.  Sometimes you can make out the the numbers if you squint at it really hard.  It started toing this a long time ago so I dont remember how long after we got it (few months maybe?)  Very rarely I have seen it work normally but that has only...

    Laser question

Is a laser diode work similar to a LED?  It will just send out a straight laser beam right?  Is there any way to make a laser beam show up in the air (a physical line--not just a dot on a surface) without using fog or some spray (like CSI)? Ii am asking this because I noticed laser diodes on...

    Long distance car sensor.

This is a complicated issue and I'm a beginner at electronics.  I can't explain everything now but I need a way to "see" a car where it can't be visually seen.  There is a limitted area I can put sensors, recievers etc. but I will try to make a diagram eventually.  For right now i just need to...

    BENCH POWER SUPPLY

??? I'm an almost complete beginner to this hobby and haven't made anything beyonde a circuit with switches, LEDs, and resistors but have been learning fast.

Can you put a dimmer on LEDs?

Sorry this is another really easy question.  Can you put a dimmer on LEDs or is there no "space" (for lack of a better word) between when they have enough voltage to light up and their max voltage?
