    This is probably the component marked 714, Thermal relay as to why its in the lamp circuit I have no idea. Don't understand why the OP is uncooperative when asked for information. The component is probably damaged to the point of passing voltage, but very little current.

    If you research these gauges you will find they are not bi metal gauges. They are Air Core type, a magnetic core surrounded with copper windings. Generaly to damp these instruments they use a thick silicon fluid on the needle bearings, so theres not realy much you can do about it unfortunately.

    Not correct you tune first then use AFC if necessary.

I was back in the 80s but have since sent all the service manuals to a paper recycler as they were taking up too mutch room & stoped repairing TVs 15 years ago as it wasn't worth it...

    With the Singer universal motor you don't need a bridge rectifier with the Triac speed controller.They work on AC or DC.

    Seen these type of igniters before on Gas apliances. They use a small DC-DC inverter to give a high voltage, this is stored in the dump capacitor, Then the stored voltage is dumped on the HV coil by the SCR which is probably trigerd by the neon bulb. Bit like CDI ignition system.

    This is the type of motor. They are not expensive (at least not here in Australia about $15.) The speed control is inside the motor & is probably faulty.

    Its not uncommon that AV in canot be activated with out the remote control. I have a Sanyo tv that does the same.

    the max recommended voltage on pin 1 is 28V, so if the battery is disconnected & then reconnected there may be a high voltage spike taking out the IC. There is a 15 to 20V Zenner ZD1. But you could try a 15V Zenner across pin 1 & ground as some extra protection.

    Any small refrigeration compressor when swithched off must have a time out period before starting again. The hi & low pressure sides must equilize first.
