New to Electronics, having trouble understanding Infrared.

Look for the "preamble pattern" : If the 8 bits received are: 10100xxx then it is MSB first - xxx weightage R -> L xxx00101 then it is LSB first - xxx weightage L -> R BUT if the xxx happens to be 101, you would'nt know  So run the car in more that one "speed" zone and study the...

    Building an Audio Amplifier

The R6 connected to Q2 will result in a +ve feed back leading to Instability / Oscillations / Output DC latch up. R6 should go to base of Q1 and not Q2.

Yes, you have a point. I was trying to explain the Intrepretation process and my example presumes that it's LSB first. If it's the other way round, then the "preamble" would be the First 5 bits as 10100, the speed as the Last 3 bits with the weightage increasing Right to Left.

A quick reply. You intend to use a Arduino Uno. Even a 1 millisecond is plenty of time for it do not only what you want, but lot more. I have'nt used the Arduino Uno, and don't know its software. I can't help you on that. The process would be: You generate a 1 KHz clock in your Arduino Uno...

" .... The signal is repeated, with 8ms of off-air time and 8ms on-air time. This 8ms of on-air times consists of an 8-bit code, with the first five bits being a pre-amble, 10100, and the final three bits containing the speed encoded in binary (plus one, so that 000 = 1cm/s and 111 = 8cm/s)."...

Step down 240v AC to 24v AC

Is the "AC components" important? If not, then the simplest would be buy readily available 5 Volt and 24 V SMPS units. If you want to make the power supply, look for a 24 volt transformer with a 6 volt tapping. You can convert these to regulated DC as planned. 24-6-0-6-24 winding will be the...

    Light Bulb

Well, you need a voltage sensor that disables the LED from switching ON below a certain voltage. That's what alex Chiu said. You can make one or buy one. Making one will be <<< £70.00.

    Help in identifying component/device

In principle, you can have a IR transmitter along with its paired IR detector for each cycle stand. Monitor Change of State - when a bicycle is parked (beam interrupted) and when removed (beam restored). That is the principle. A lot of things could "replace" the bicycle  - a person walking...
