    3 way speaker system

Hi Xtp, The enclosure volume and vent diameter and length depends on the Thiel-Small spec's of the woofer. If the volume is too large then the speaker will "boom" at a single low frequency if the vent is also too large and the response will have a dip above the boom frequency. If the volume is...

    LM317 works Bad "SOS"

Nope. Not anymore. If there was a difference then they scrapped the original TL08x design and are making them all with the improved TL07x design now. They have exactly the same price at Digikey.

    Power Amp

The totem output pole output of most opamps is a complimentary pair of emitter followers.

    LM317 works Bad "SOS"

You can buy a cheap low-spec LM317 or a premium best-spec LM117. Most ICs have an A-suffix premium best-spec version for sale. They are the same except the testing picks-out the best ones. I wonder about how they sort the TL07x or TL08x opamps. Their only difference is that the TL07x is spec'd...

    Antenna and TV standard

Of course they do. In Canada and the US the audio FM carrier frequency is 4.5MHz above the video AM carrier frequency. In most of the rest of the world the difference is 5.5MHz, I think. By majic. ;D ;D Umpteen billions of signals can travel in the same wire. My cable TV wire is jammed full of...

    0-30 Vdc Stabilized Power Supply

Hi Logitec, These are very common resistor and ceramic capacitor values. What country are you in? www.farnell.com have electronics parts offices in many countries. Are you making the original or the fixed and improved project? I recommend that you use parts on this list:

    LM317 works Bad "SOS"

IC and transistor manufacturers test every item they make for functionality. They test supply current, current limiting, thermal shutdown, input offset voltage and noise level (for low-noise products). It is a part of their production. The few things that are not tested are "guaranteed by design".

    Hello

What's the "but" part about Canadians? Everyone has a butt. ;D

    Surplus Crossovers

Hi John, No spec's? It must have a rated power, impedance and crossover frequency. It looks like just an inductor for the woofer and just a capacitor for the tweeter. The cutoff would be so gradual that the woofer will still tweet and the tweeter will, well, maybe blow-up as it tries to "woof"...

    3 way speaker system

Hi Xtp, I have lost my speaker box program on the broken hard drive of my old pc. I recall that your 1st enclosure is too big for an 8" speaker and your 2nd is too small. I recall that your vents are too short for deep low bass. Of course, the box volume and vent dimensions must match the spec's...

    0-30 Vdc Stabilized Power Supply

Hi Ab, It is good that your project worked, but bad that it failed again after only 30 seconds. 1) Now the output voltage is high at 32V and P1 doesn't control it, right? 2) Before it blew fuses but now it doesn't, right? U2 controls the output voltage. U2 might burn-up if the collector and...

    Total newbie w/ Resistor question

The light-blue resistors I've seen are "flame-proof". If you use an ordinary resistor in your meter and it goes "poof" again, it will set your meter and maybe your house on fire!! If you install it backwards then you might need to stand on your head to read its value. Or use it in Australia. ;D

    Data Transmission using Xmitters

Data transmission using AM or FM transmitters? 1) They will cause interference to radio reception and therefore are illegal. 2) Their bandwidth is so narrow that you will be limited to maybe only 300 baud. Hi-speed Bluetooth and wireless routers are approved and are cheap. Get one and enjoy it. ;D

    3 way speaker system

Hi Xtp, I am fixing the JVC two-way 8" speakers my son got from E-bay. Their pretty big enclosures were glued together with hot-melt wax, and were falling apart and buzzing. After picking away the wax, I am gluing them properly with wood-glue and wood blocks. They have built-in overload...

    LM317 works Bad "SOS"

The factory shorts the output of every one they make, to make sure it limits its current and shuts-down when it gets too hot, without protection diodes.

How to make an audio console's power supply better?

Hi Dead, A rectifier's main filter cap can get hot if its ripple current is too high for its ESR (equivalent series resistance). P= I squared R. Big capacitors are rated for max ripple current which occurs due to the cap charging from the rectifier then discharging into the load and with a high...

    LM317 works Bad "SOS"

Hi Gogo, Protection diodes are needed if the output or ADJ terminal has a big capacitor and if the output voltage was higher and if the input or output are suddenly shorted. They aren't needed in this circuit.
