    No. The way thermistors work is they change their resistance throughout their range over the temperature change. Some are PTC while others are NTC. Which one is yours? Why replace the thermistor in the first place? Show details of the original and the new one.

    555 output will handle 200ma direct on pin 3. I'm pretty sure those timers will operate down to 4.5v so get yourself a 5v version of what you already have or rather the 555 version and hack it. BTW....impressive model work,......... like it. I'm more into aircraft , choppers and boats myself...

    Watch that receiver voltage. Newer type might handle it but older units won't like anything over 6v. Even then, Futaba for example can get over sensitive over 5v.

    You must use a charger dedicated to the particular cell type to begin with. These batteries have tight tolerances on maximum charge/discharge level AND method of charging. Get it wrong and at some time you WILL end up with smoke and fire. I assume your hack does not include a battery protection...

    Yellow paper stuff is crap. It comes rolled up and will not flatten out properly no matter what I tried. Advised the supplier who obviously comes from another planet as the message just never seemed to sink in. Savings over the use of press-n-peel just not worth the effort/ wasted time.

    With your choice of latch, it would depend on how you intend to rig up the rest of the mechanism and how much "load" there would be on the latch. The one shown has around 12w of power ( 12v x 1A) which is not a lot really. Latch has only so much pulling power and under normal use ( door latch)...
