Inverter Circuit 12V DC to 230VAC Sine Wave

Hi Audioguru, The 16 MOSFETS  should be well spread out over a BIG heatsink. I don’t know if there are any big differences in price between N and P channel Mosfets, or maybe this guy had them in his junkbox anyway. ;D

    Hum in the incoming signal

It would be interesting to know if the “smooth over” UPS cut out when the big one is up and running or does it stay on to supply the exiter circuit. Sometimes the exiter circuit runs of the diesel starter batterys but the first alternative is also possible. The reason for these questions is that...

An Open source , CAN-bus based automotive wiring harness for the masses

First of all I like the idea of an LS1 with twin turbos, the drawback is the cost of gas though! :o  Other than that; go for it! It’s an interesting approach to rebuild the cars electrics (electronics) this way, are you going to use an EFI system and if so is this system “open” to integration?

Inverter Circuit 12V DC to 230VAC Sine Wave

Hi Audioguru, Yes, this is closer to the sine wave than the square wave but not perfect though. I am sure that some equipment will be more forgiving to this waveform than to square wave. But obviously the circuit becomes more complex which is hereby proven by the fact that you had to look twice...

An Open source , CAN-bus based automotive wiring harness for the masses

Ok, I see. You like to hack into the existing system to make mods to the different functions. Could be fun but how sensitive are these circuits if you try to override the existing signals and commands? You probably have to go all the way to the “brain” to take control not to make a mess here. I...

Inverter Circuit 12V DC to 230VAC Sine Wave

Hi Harry, This is a “modified sinus” inverter, as you can see it is much more complex than the square wave inverter. This one is more powerful but even at the same power level it will still be more complex to construct and build.  ;)

An Open source , CAN-bus based automotive wiring harness for the masses

Hi cgriffin, Welcome to this forum! The CAN-bus system (Bosch) is already highly developed especially for vehicles. Can you try to explain where you want to go with it?

    Hum in the incoming signal

Hi walid, The hum; can you establish if it is the mains frequency 50 or 60 Hz whichever you got? What kind of alternator do you have, I am especially interested in the exciter circuit! ::)

Hi Alun, Winrar can be set to “best” which means harder compression. Gifs are compact as is but animated once are not very compact at least not this one. Let’s see what you can do with it!  ;)

    Troubleshooting for SLA battery charger

You have to set it up as follows: (1) Make the knob for current control into the minimum (full of left). (2) Make the knob for voltage control into the minimum (full of left). (3) Short-circuit the output of a charger. (4) Turn the knob for current control to the right until the charging...

Hi Alun, You might convert it so we can see the difference in size, crunched with winrar it’s not that big. ;D

If you mean the circle to the left of S1 it’s a terminal (connection).

Hi All, Amazing things you can do with an animated gif don’t you think?  ;D Sorry about the archiving but the file was to big to post (I tried several times) even though it is much smaller than the “allowed” 10000 kb!  >:( Thevenin.rar

    Power Supply

Hi GraFxPro, How much current do you need, and do you want to go all the way down to zero volts?

    Micro Spot Welder

Hi rfranzk, The zero cross firing is when the device (a solid state relay in this case) detects the zero crossing point of the mains sinusoidal wave and “fires” the relay at this (0V) point . Yes the contact pressure and the positioning of the tips is also important factors.

Hi Heath, Please tell us more about your ideas! BTW. Have you recovered from the winds and water yet?

    Micro Spot Welder

Hi rfranzk, I would like to see some pictures of your project, especially the wiring from the transformer to the tips and the tips. Four feet wire even 8 gauge will be a resistor at these currents, have you measured the drop across each wire under load conditions? Have you tested tungsten or...
