    If brushed motors and running on AC, then they are Series field AC/DC (Universal) motors, also the brushes and both field windings would all be in series. The appear to have some kind of sensor on the back end??

    The Youtube one you referred to I used high end Galil PC CNC motion cards for my DIY builds. Other than that, I retro-fitted machines using Mitsubishi CNC controllers for a living.

    That machine is about the most basic you are going to get, It uses steppers and Arduino controller with GRBL CNC S/W. You could pick one up and improve the rigidity, otherwise for anything heavier, you will pay more. The old adage 'You Get What You Pay For" applies.

    The motor obviously requires some badly needed maintenance, it should be stripped down/dismantled and given a thorough cleaning. And then test for GND leakage. After which the motor frame should be connected to earth GND. Brushes checked for sufficient length.
