    I see from the Ametek site they are big into brushless fans, ECM motor, One of which is similar in looks to the one here, I suspect this is one and looks like someone has rigged one up with a external control source. You would need to get the exact specs on that fan. M.

    Looks like a hopeless miss-match. For one the motor requires 120vac at 4.5a, most likely a shaded pole motor, it is going to need a Triac controller to control RPM, the output of the S.G. does not even come close at 10v. Looks like another piece of equipement is used in the photo?. M.

    But when it goes south they are usually difficult to fix or find parts for, the linear is a cinch to fix, SHOULD it go wrong. M.

    It is very difficult to position DC motors accurately without some kind of feedback, or extremely high gearing, or quadrature encoder for e.g. This is the reason many types of these applications use stepper motors as they step to a angular position without any kind of feedback. M.

    The biggest gripe I have is in books such as Art of Electronics and others, is the standard use of symbols is not observed, in particular one that can have a dangerous outcome if miss-interpreted is the wide spread use of the Earth ground symbol for circuit common in general.:( M.

    Appears to be a Universal motor if it does in fact have brushes, these have the field in series with the rotor, and it requires changing the polarity of one of them with respect to the other to change direction. M.

    Generally these appliances have brushed Universal motors that cannot be reversed very easily unless it is built into the appliance. Is it possible to view the motor to get a better idea? M.

    Rather than ' .Shared neutral' I should have said directly referenced to each other.;) In N.A. it is done in the panel as well as the source. In other places, UK etc, N and Earth are only referenced at the source. M.

    That is a Very (physically) small motor and at 36v would run almost 10krpm when unloaded. Does not appear to me to be a suitable motor for cutting large animal bones. Torque= current, rpm=voltage. M.

    Mainly aimed at a large copper pad or areas such as the bottom left corner, before I saw the pads you were referring to. Some times pads such as these are intended for higher current capacity. M.

    What I use is Lamacoid, at any engraver, I draw up the panel in DWG format and send it to my guy and he cuts out all the shapes you need. Also comes in a choice of many colours if needed. If you need legends/labels, I get the reverse engraved type so that the surface is completely flat where...

    They look OK to me, what i usually do to the foil that appears to conduct significant current is to re-enforce it with Solder Wick style of copper braid. The one diode D4 appears to have a cold solder joint.! M.

    elvi motor help

    Hall effect (3) sensors are usually associated with BLDC motors, which normally would have 3 stator leads and at least 3 hall conductors which would also need a reference or power. If the one you have has two leads for the motor and the three could be a single RPM sensor, ( +V -V & sensor). M.

    One member of another site made a couple up for me using Eagle I believe, My Kicad did not appear to allow it. My board was similar in style to a large Washer 2" in dia. M.
