    pic input/outputs

Most have weak pull up's capability, but customarily a external pull up is used. I use a logic level mosfet for any output that requires current. A 2n7000 is useful for starters. Inputs are high impedance. Do you have a particular micro No? M.

Mains Neon indicator lamps are very cheap and consume no current (to speak of). They come in a simple panel mount holder. M.

How do I run a dc motor slowly?

A stepper motor is designed to operate at the rated plate current at all times , this will tend change due to the increase in inductive reactance change as rpm increases, therefore a drive is required that maintains the rated current regardless of rpm, this involves a P.S. that is well above...

How do I run a dc motor slowly?

What phases are you talking about? Not a stepper motor?? Most currently available DC motors are P.M. field so only two conductors for the armature. The resistance of a DC motor is rather meaningless as the current depends on the load. The actual resistance only comes into play at zero rpm if...

    Basic PIC18F4520 TX/RX question

You may want to look at the Usart code in an app note on the Picmicro site, it gives examples in Assembly. I can look up the app No if you cannot find it. A couple I believe are AN774 and AN777 For testing communication there is a free pgm out there RS232HEXCOM. which makes it very easy to...

Newbie needing help - arcing relay

+1 on the test for low coil voltage, it looks like 12vdc for this relay, the coil and contact are on the front so it should be possible to measure easily. Is it dropping out and in sporadically when it shouldn't? M..

Newbie needing help - arcing relay

With that kind 0f load I would expect arcing. Repairing a few recent appliances of which just about all were relay problems, I found that not only the relays appear woefully small for their current ratings, especially when inductive loads (motors) are involved. If you have sufficient room I...

    motor run-capacitor testing and identification

I usually buy CDE N.A. made. I assume this is a 120vac pump so 400/400v should be ample, do you have any motor rewinders in your area, or motor suppliers? That could be a first place to try. DMF series from Digikey also. Mouser sells CDE. M.

    Solenoid Specification Forces

10mm is a little short to use a linear actuator. If you need both push/pull I would consider a double ended solenoid with two coils. How is the solenoid returned on the present one? M.
