    Linear actuator operation

You could set up an RC controller if needed, they are relatively cheap. Linear actuators usually have a fwd/rev limit built in on the extreme limits, if any intermediate position is needed, you would need to set up your own and position detection, possibly use a RC controller switch channel to...

    Transformer current rating

6.3AT means 6.3a time delay. It appears to be a fuse for each secondary it would indicate around 630 va which by the size I would think it close. M.

+1 I would be inclined to question the knowledge of your teachers back then, for them to make those statements. M.

    Replacement relays?

I think the reason you are have a problem finding an original is that Cornell Dubilier was never big into relays, more Capacitors etc. Also the relay Div. was taken over by CII in 1998, so who knows what the availability is now. As a last resort I have occasionally modified the mounting holes...

I got a 2.5HP T.M. motor for $100.00 and a controller for $60. There are either the MC-60 etc or the KB line for control on ebay. M.

    Replacement relays?

Try the Digikey site, they have an inventory of small relays of different makes and you could seek a similar/same footprint. Looks similar to https://www.tedss.com/2034000029 https://www.tedss.com/Catalog/Browse?searchString=CDE&inCategory=RELAY M.

    Help for circuit design...

Not really, there is from logic level gate type and up to a typical 20v max, that should be simple to do with a gate pull up resistor and 20v zener or just a simple resistor divider.. I use the FX series of PLC. M.

    Help for circuit design...

What is the nature of your PLC? Is this a commercial/industrial PLC in the meaning of the word? Have you looked at a Mosfet in place of a bi-polar transistor? The nature of the output of industrial PLC's can vary from relay contact to sink or source solid state. M.

The problem with 12v is the current required to achieve the torque for a lathe spindle of a decent size. The favorites are T.M. motors. But 90vdc. M.

    DC Servo power supply help.

10% is ample allowance, especially that servo's are not operating at max current for a great deal of the time, also if the supply is for more than one servo, it is very rare that all are operating at the rated current at any one time. M.

    DC Servo power supply help.

1/ Your DC supply does not need to be the same rating of the motors, when using a servo etc controller, the recommended supply voltage is motor plate voltage +10% minimum. The power semi's appear to be SCR's so likely the original was a full wave, 4 quadrant SCR bridge type controller which was...

Need Help with a power supply for a 12 volt DC project

Wall Warts are common for 12vdc, if you need the 13.8 to charge with you would have to maybe pick up a AC version and tailor it, I have done this before, they are usually non-SMPS however, just a simple transformer, but often they can be opened up and tailored and a regulator fitted in the same...

    Soldering wire to metal

Is this a Weller gun? If so they usually have two pulls to the trigger, with the first pull the highest wattage. Most forget this.! M.

    Soldering wire to metal

If they are tinned as they look it, you will have to have enough heat in the metal to melt the solder, otherwise it is known as a dry joint, you need a fairly high wattage iron or a high temp tip. If zinc coated then you will not be successful with solder. M.

    PSU ground connection

Whether the -ve is grounded should be incidental, if you measure from +5v to chassis ground and it reads 5v then the common is grounded, otherwise not. It should not be the cause on non-working. M.
