    500k linear for VR6-VR9 and 25k linear for V10. The 1.8M full scale measurement on VR10 is due to damage. Double the 50% measurement to get the real value. A marking of 500kB or 504B would be a 500k linear taper. An "A" in the place of the "B" would indicate an audio or logarithmic taper...

    I like Dave's design on the EEVblog but I've always wanted an adjustable lab power supply that had three big bright LED displays; blue for voltage, red for current and emerald green for current limit setpoint which would turn amber whenever the limiter was activated by the load.

    Yes, 500k linear if the others measure similarly. VR10 will probably be different and may be logarithmic.

    Unsolder one and read the manufacturer logo/name and part number on the bottom. Heat sink the pins when you unsolder them to prevent damage to the connector body.

    When the output filter capacitors died, they probably took one or two transistors with them. We'll need to see the transistors mounted on the aluminum heat sink in the vicinity of the dead capacitors. Use the close-up or macro setting on your camera and good lighting as before.

    They're basically a match head with a nichrome heater wire inside and can be found for less than $1 each. Try a low wattage resistor like 1/16 W hot glued between three matches with a fuse.
