Electronics Point User Survey to win Fluke 117 Multimeter

Yesterday I received an email survey from Electronics Point which included a chance to win a Fluke 117 digital multimeter. So always open to win something I tried to do the survey, BUT I failed to get past the first question. NEW ZEALAND is not listed in the country drop down list and can't be...

    water alarm

Water level detection in diesel tanks is very common in automotive applications. Many engines have a fuel filter with a pair of contacts in a glass or plastic bowl on the bottom of the filter assembly. Some of the newer ones have a three terminal electronic sensor to detect water. Condensation...

Different in voltage of 3 phase

As requested, we need more information. Is this generator or mains supply? Voltage will be phase to phase, not phase to neutral. Phase to neutral will be about 240v for your system.

Car horn as speaker for musical keyboard

Boys should never "grow up". Our toys should just get bigger, flasher, and more expensive! As Bluejets explained, a car horn won't work as a speaker.

    Need help on series circuit

"quadratic equation" crikey that takes me back over 40 years to my high school days. Might have to try solving this to see if I still remember how to do them.

Shorting a motors out to keep it from spinning question?

I would not have thought that shorting the motor terminals together would have had any effect on the force needed to turn the motor by hand. The force required would be due to the reverse ratio through the gearbox. The motor wouldn't be turning fast enough to generate voltage. It would...

I'm trying to restore a deep cycle 12v battery (for curiosity and sentimental reasons)

My advice would be to bin it, and buy a new battery. Even if you do manage to "save" it, you will probably have to replace it before long. Kellys "stuffing" solution would be a good option if needed.

    Hey, are you in Brizzie?

G'day Steve, proud kiwi here(one eyed Cantab to be exact). I'm a bit worried that I understood your posts. Too many holidays on your side of the ditch. The banana benders aren't the only Aussies with weird place names. The cockroaches have a place called Rooty Hill. Spent a week at the RSL on a...

Does anyone know the value of this resistor?

Not quite sure of the exact colours from your photo. I assume that you have tried checking it with a multimeter? Try this calculator to get the resistance. http://www.resistorguide.com/resistor-color-code-calculator/

    Capacitor charging itself?

No wonder the kids of today have trouble with spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Your teacher needs to learn the difference between "m" and "M" prefixes for SI units. As asked previously, is English your teacher's first language? Q10 is easy. It's a flux capacitor.:D

    Modifying automotive alternator windings...

Automotive alternators have three windings connected in a Y or Delta configuration. Y gives higher voltage at low speeds, and Delta has higher current output. I guess that you could join the starts and finishes of each winding in the correct sequence to get a higher voltage single phase output...

How to block Magnetic field coming from substation and underground power to property beside it

OK, I will probably make myself unpopular with this. You were so concerned about the magnetic fields from the box prior to purchasing that you bought an "alpha mg meter". Why did you proceed with the purchase??? Surely the questions you are asking here should have been asked, and resolved to...

    Sump pump monitor

As well as counting how many times the pump is activated, you could also add an hourmeter to monitor how long it runs for. This would give you a better idea of the pump operation.
