Soft Start for a AC 240 plug unit.

Have you consulted the manufacturer of your AC unit? They may have a tailor made solution to suit your needs. Also the local AC repair guys or local electrician may have something.

    Ideas to start my project.

Looks like another "Googler" that stumbles onto a forum, asks a question, gets a few replies, then disappears, never to be heard from again.

Designing a Battery Backup for a security system

My suggestion would be to discard the factory 7.5v supply and just use the 12v battery, charger, and 12v-7.5v converter. Charger size should be increased from 500mA to 3A. May be a good idea to use a multi-stage charger to get the best battery life. Power on. The charger will supply the alarm...

Help, Please with hot wire foam cutter

Sorry, I am a little confused as to what you want to measure with the combination voltmeter/ammeter. Is it the voltage applied to the heating element and the current passing through it? The duty cycle(0 - 100%) is the important measurement with PWM. The voltage will be basically the same as...

Retail product that can supply 120V/30A from battery?

120VAC/30A from a 12V battery source can be done with a suitable inverter. Just Google "3600 watt inverter" to see what is available. 3600Watts from 12VDC is 300A? As Harald said "you'll need a big battery". It will need to supply that current without the voltage dropping too much causing the...

Need device convert hdmi to composite signal

Doesn't vinyl have better sound reproduction than the modern formats? The stereo in my Toyota has a mix of old and new. It takes both cassettes and CD's.

Need to use 2 proximity sensor on the same input.

Try this. The 1N4007 diodes will pass the 12v output from either, or both, sensors to the LM7805. The output from one sensor can't feed back into the other sensor. Think of them as one way valves for electricity. Current will only pass in the direction of the arrow.

    Home alarm speaker wiring

Hope you gave the guy a stern telling off! Are the black and blue twisted together? I would follow the wires back to the alarm panel to see which ones are connected. If you a really lucky the terminals will be labelled. If not, try googling the panel model to see if you can find a manual for it.

Series, Parallel or Series/Parallel Circuit? LED's won't turn on, not enough V?

Series, Parallel or Series/Parallel Circuit? LED's won't turn on, not enough V?

Going by your drawing I assume you have festoon(sausage) bulbs. LED bulbs are polarity sensitive. One metal end cap will be positive and the other negative. Won't go if you have them the wrong way around. First thing to try is swap them around. Bulbs shown in drawing are in parallel. Courtesy...

    Charge Batteries in Series

Two 12v batteries in series require a 24v charger. Batteries have to be identical for this to work correctly. The charger also has to be the correct type for the batteries being charged.

    Converting AC to DC motor

An old style car generator/dynamo, eg Lucas C40, will run as a motor if connected to a car battery, but pretty sure it would not have enough power for a go-cart. Car starter motor will power a go-cart, but would draw a lot of current and flatten the battery fairly quickly. A motor of an old...

    POE 48vdc to 24-26 vdc

Has the Cat5 already been run? Can you run another cable as a dedicated power supply? What is the exact cable length? 100' to 200'(30m to 60m) is a pretty wide range. Could you use a POE injector with a higher rating?

    12vdc relay

Parallel the two unused wires with the two being used. This will reduce the voltage drop in the wires to the relay. Use a higher voltage power supply. 12v is the nominal voltage for the relays, but the specifications will probably give a maximum voltage of about 14v.

Output voltage is higher than it should be

I am speaking from experience here, so please don't take offense. Is your voltmeter giving erroneous high readings due to it having a flat battery?
