    I am amazed that the circuit works when it was built on a solderless breadboard with messy long wires and their stray capacitance all over the place. His soldered circuit needed two long wires rolled up inside to add come capacitance and the antenna length was critical.

    His other post shows a theremin circuit with two 3.3pF capacitors in it to detect changes in the tiny capacitance of his hand's distance from an antenna. 3.3pF is almost nothing like the capacitance between your hand away from an antenna.
