    depending on what you want your robot to do then yes. if you want it to mow the lawn then a transcieverwill be your best bet. if you want a wirless camera to "patrol" the yard then you can put "rails" around your fenceline and it will be like a model train but with a camera.

    LEDs ARE power hungry but then they blow. this is why you limit the amps with a resistor. anyway do you have a question here or is this an observation?

    ok now I am interested... how did you hurt yourself? also try getting a breadboard, once you figure out the pathways it will help you out alot. figuring out where the wires go is the MOST important part besides being safe.

    resistor come from pin 3 to pos side of LED then goes to pin 1 the neg side of the cap and the neg side of your battery. now from your drawing it appears as though you connected your LED straight to the battery, so I am assuming it is no good now, try another LED

    a few things wrong there. first of all your LED is connected to pins 1 and 8, their schematic clearly shows it goes on pin 1 then to a diode then pin 3.
