    Digital piano won't power ON

D23 might be shorted. I'd pull it out of circuit and test it again. Pay close attention to its polarity.

    Resistors in combination circuit help

You understand? 1/4=(.25)+ 1/12=(.0833)=.3333 or 3 Ω Reciprocal 1/.3333=3 So if the parallel resistors are 3 and R4 is 2 that leaves 1 ohm for R1. Remember the total resistance is 6 ohms. It can also be figured out by adding up the voltage drops. R4 drops 4v the parallel resistors drop 6v which...

    Resistors in combination circuit help

R3 is 4Ω and has 1.5a flowing through it. Whats the voltage? This same voltage will be across R2. Use this voltage and the .5a to figure that resistance. Now, whats the parallel resistance?

    Resistors in combination circuit help

First part good. When you divide 12v by 2a you get the total resistance of the entire circuit. R1 is only part of that resistance. Try to calculate the voltage of R4, then the parallel resistance of R2 and R3, then when you know the parallel resistance (you already know .5a flows through R2)...

Connecting and insulating wires in high temp environments

It's worth mentioning that you can often get away with much lower temp ratings by simply re-routing the wire or using shielding. This can be done with a metal shield, silica fabric, fiberglass, conduit...etc. When I splice in high temp areas such as furnaces, I usually just use standard...

    Digital piano won't power ON

To clarify, You are using 40/60 solder which isn't ideal for electrical use. You want to use 60/40 rosin core. That's a 60% tin to 40% lead ratio.

When did the site get a nice new look? I like it! :)

I believe Ian rolled out the new changes last week. Yes, it looks great. The categories should be easier to follow as well. Thank you Ian.

Anyone able to tell me what this is?

Guillermo, creo lo que nos dices, pero el cableado general que se muestra en tu imagen difiere claramente del original. Cuando se trata de cableado, nunca es una buena idea aplicar potencia sin verificar primero todas las conexiones. ___________ Guillermo, I believe what you are telling us, but...

Anyone able to tell me what this is?

I would look at the name plate on the motor itself and look for it's diagram and figure your connections based on that. There could be a diagram on the junction box cover also. Guillermo says power goes to terminals 8 and 9 but his wiring is completely different than yours. Don't guess at it...

    Digital piano won't power ON

As 73's de Edd discussed, there are multiple points along that point that should have your +5. If any component along this path is shorted, it will bring down the voltage. Start checking components along this same path for continuity to see if anything is shorted. (With power off) Example: put...

    Led's headlight issue

Problem is, the control module for the headlights on most cars do the current sensing and are usually inaccessible because they are potted and the sensing circuitry would be tiny. Secondly, if you just cut the sensing trace it would read it as open circuit and give spurious feedback from...

    Denon S-301 Malfunction

I don't have time to get too in-depth, at least at the moment. I still say your better off looking for the vital things like voltage checks first. I'd guess "power down" is a input or bus to the processor to systematically turn off things in a safe maner. If your still curious, look at pin 17...

    Denon S-301 Malfunction

Hi Claudel, Glad to help if I can with what little knowledge I have. A couple of things; I wouldn't be looking at total resistance as it's not much help at this point. When measuring voltages, measure with respect to related ground pin. Example; cy041 pin is +31v with respect to pin 3 or 4...

    Garmin GPS120

We call them "license" plates. Lol I agree its in rough shape. You may be able to clean and reflow the solder on the existing connections and make a jumper wire to repair the lost power cable. The question should be asked though: Do you really want to rely on this thing if your miles out?

The role of tr902 is to switch on the relay feeding power to f901. Do you hear the relay click and do you have AC power at f901? If so, I would suspect the primary of t901 isn't getting fired (by pwm). This is controlled by ic902. I don't know it's specific function but it's looking for the...
