    I think he means to use a 7805 to drop 12v to 5v after the sensor. I don't know how close to 5v it needs to be, but I was thinking of just using a 6v ps and use diode or two to drop the voltage a bit. By the way, what does BOB stand for?

    Good job finding the dodgy ribbon cable! Perhaps there's a problem with the crimped end, or the socket it's hooked to? Look in the manual for the part number and try a Google search to see if you can find one.

    I would make sure you select an audio mode that will pass an analog signal such as bypass mode as opposed to one that might be looking for a digital signal. You also might want to use a .01uf capacitor inline with your probe to block dc going to your speakers.

    I'm no choir boy, but I would check for output at pin 21 and 23 with respect to pin 17 (ampc) Have you verified -7v on pin 52? Are you saying all functions seem to work except you have no audio?

    Suspicious, but did you first to do as 73's de edd says and see if the voltage comes back up by isolation? If it returns to 8v or higher with everything hook up except cp5, your likely on the right path.
