    Reading this thread back, you want these signal lights to run off an Arduino but they are 14-16V AC?. Personally, I would see if I could access the series resistors and change them for use with 3.3V or 5V. Martin

    The are obviously single LEDs with with a current limiting resistor to 10mA. The diode may well be to rectify the AC in this case. Martin

    Why do some devices turn on with the mains before the "On" button is pressed?

    May be because most items having a standby circuit need constant power. So when plugged in, there is always power to the unit even when switched off. Hence the standby circuit waiting for a command. When I plug my TV in, it comes on and then goes off waiting for a command from the remote. Martin

    Great on both counts. Everything is getting smaller and harder to work with. Even with a microscope and small tipped iron or hot air. Tweezers take some getting used to too!. Martin

    Can you not open ‘1’ ear piece? That would then be definitive. Screws are usually under the outer foam. I would also cut a few inches (50mm) off the jack end as the wire naturally weakens over time in that area. Martin

    I believe that your newly purchased units are 315MHz and the original unit is probably 433MHz. It has a 13.560MHz crystal which might translate to 13.56x32=433.92MHz. Martin
