    I'd get some perf board and copy the layout of traces and components. Solid bell wire about 24 gauge works to simulate traces but obviously make thicker traces where necessary such as on Triac A1,A2 terminals.

    Probably because residual moisture still exists. If your serious about finding the fault use a megometer to pinpoint it. Also, try disconnecting both wires (at their source) going to heater to verify that its not the motor causing the fault. Isolation is a good plan.

    I don't see a problem as long as connections are done safety, the relay contacts can handle the load and the neutral (grounded) is not switched.

    I didn't say it wasn't allowed. I was merely stating that this dryer has a know ground fault. Therefore it's wise to use caution when plugging it into a non rcd protected circuit.

    I knew my my way around Dos but mostly just the basic commands. Doshell was "the bomb" on my 8088. I remember entering .exe and enter and watching dos script flashing across my monochrome screen and thinking; Wow, is this thing fast!!

    It is important to mention to use extreme caution if hooking up to any circuit that is not rcd protected. The dryer will likely have leakage currents that can be deadly if come in contact with.

    Normally a flanged inlet socket mounted to the frame that'd accepts the female side of a ul listed cord is used. Is this project something factory made, or constructed?

    I can't explain why it's voltage output is high but i don't think it'd be a problem unless its goes above 15v. For automotive circuits, voltage is around 14.7 when charging system is operating. Are you sure about your 9-12v requirements?

    Like Alec said if there is little or no load on it it probably wont be a solid 12v output. You never showed us what model it is or how your hooking it up. Why do you need one? Does you ammeter need a regulated source? what is its power requirements?

    A link so we can read the specs would help. I assume the current required to power your 12v ammeter is quite low. I would opt for a regulator like a lm7812 if needed. Even if the 12v source to power your meter varies by a few volts I doubt it would impact the accuracy of the current display...

    Should be fine under 25ft. It just the longer the wire the more voltage drop/signal loss and potentially noise could be introduced.

    What is a wall unit? Are you asking how to apply power from a 120v receptacle outlet and have it feed an amphenol connector plug (male) that will go to its 6-pin amphenol receptacle on your project?
