    Progress

Yes, inside my sequntial circuits drumtraks there's a booklet glued with schematics and service notes. It always made me like it lots more. I like your point and I will endeavour to find a place within my synth that has the notes needed for it's upkeep.

Thanks. I will invest in this. I've finally made friends with my oscciloscope now so will do this also.

    Pre amps or boosts

I'll put your circuit together later on today so I understand it better. Thanks for including the graph also that helped a lot.

    Pre amps or boosts

Here is the schematic of the VCF I have built. It is two files and I will also include the MFOS article pg link. The article does mention gain for the resonance but I got confused as it goes into the LM13700N and I couldn't follow the termilogy used when describing the op amp and LM13700N's...

    Pre amps or boosts

Thanks Audio guru. I will post the schematic asap.

    Pre amps or boosts

Just to report back. I tried to understand the filter I am using to see where the gain can be adjusted but alas I couldn't work it out. Ended up realising I could just increase the gain on the signal in opamp which solved the problem of mixing both the sine resonance and signal in. Thanks for...

    Progress

Just wanted to say thanks to people on here who have helped me thus far in learning electronics. This week i managed todiagnose and repair tow faults in two circuits. I wouldn't have been able to do this without your guys patient teaching over the past couple of years. I'm sure I'll make some...

I will look into that thank you.

    Pre amps or boosts

Hi title doesn't really cover my question. In a modular synth I would like a bunch of pre amps/boosts or amps to control the outputs from various audio signal sources. I have built a couple of small single op amp mixers but I still don't get amplification that can help me match signal LVLS (for...

    Before powering a circuit.

I tend to make a few kits then a couple of stripboard circuits so I have to learn more about the circuits. Thank you this is helpful and will be in print at my bench :-)

    MFOS VCO fault

To conclude. Just rebuilt the circuit on a new Pcb and it all works great. I realised that the Previous PCB was near a radiator, didn't realise the heating in our building had been turned on so maybe the board had twisted or something. Anyhow, really grateful for all help given and shared...

    Before powering a circuit.

I understand this depends heavily on types of circuits. What checks do people do? My checks are usually just checking rails are isolated and a pcb/solder inspection. But then I've read other methods for example checking resistance between rails and VCC+ and - on ic's. Feel like I want to...

    MFOS VCO fault

Ok. Here's the best static image I could get... If no good I could pull a static image off the video later on tonight.

    MFOS VCO fault

Hi. I did remember to reconnect the pins. Just disconnected them again to take measurements as you asked before. I couldn't work out how to take a static image due to flickering of the waveform. I could draw them instead?

    MFOS VCO fault

Hi guys. Ok so changed the capacitor. Here is the new readings; To check for an actual short, disconnect 1 and 2, temporarily ground 2, then measure the voltage at 3 (with the VCO powered on). It should be non-zero. Black probe on ground red on pin 3 =6.89v Ok. Now put the black probe on pin...

    Electronics Documentaries

Been trying to learn more about the history of audio electronics (moog/fuzz) etc.... but thought in general it would be fun to have a thread of documentaries that are electronics based.

    MFOS VCO fault

Just got round to reading what a voltage follower is. Seems like an absolutely essential building block for circuits, especially anything ran off of batteries. I do a lot of mini projects with motors and batteries so i'm glad inadvertently you pointed me towards this. Thanks.

    MFOS VCO fault

I took C13 off the pcb to check. Was that correct?

    MFOS VCO fault

I don't know how you've managed to work this out but yes that C13 is leaky. It only rises to 1.3ohms! Sadly I'm can't get back into my workshop until monday now but I can't wait to replace that cap and see what's happening! Everything crossed And thanks so much Darren
