    Burnt out Blanket Controller

Winter is coming. Momma wants you to cuddle with her on cold winter nights instead of relying on electric blankets. Get someone who knows how to repair electrical things, or take a risk and open-up one of the controllers (UNPLUGGED), to see if you can identify the damage. Just hope the...

    I have found free energy...sorta...

Fertilizer will soon be outlawed, as a major carbon polluter. As soon as they outlaw cows (methane producers, and environmental hazardous beef producers), the only fertilizer left in the U.S. will be the figurative kind referenced by bigone5500. Say, aren't we getting a little off topic here...

Wow, and I thought I was joking. Truth is stranger than fiction.

You're in the States. Harvest some of the blow-hard wind-power coming out of all those Presidential candidates.

    Length measurement

I use a TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer), but I've had it for over 20 years and it was pretty expensive. I just did a quick google search, and there are a lot of hand-held wire-length measuring instruments on the market now for from $200 (US) and up. Google what you want.

    I've Just Been Spanked!

Frankly, I figure davenn's doing me a favor when he yanks one of my posts. I'm most dangerous to myself. Speaking of danger CDRIVE, have you ever considered where that 10' pipe is going to go, if somebody rear-ends your avatar?

need help with identifying this part

Well, that description doesn't ring any bells with me. Can you tell us what the part physically looks like, and ESPECIALLY if there is a manufacturer name or logo on it. That would help us help you.

    Glass Tube Fuse Identification

Have you got a manufacturer logo on the fuse? The Littelfuse or Bussmann logo, or whomever made it? That'll tell you exactly were to look for what the '3/3' denotes. In simple terms, (that may not always hold true?): A fast blow fuse is a single element, one, fine-wire element ( in a 1 amp...

Op Amp Chip, different type query.

What's your application. Is this a specific critical application? Maybe you're within the tolerance of the devices. I'm pretty sure you're asking about the component date code: 1408B is mfgr date 2014, 8th week of manufacture 1418B is probably 2014, 18th week of mfgr. and 0949B is probably...

    Capacitor Sizing - To Big/Small

Threw me for a minute there. I thought you were going to ask about physical size/dielectric composition of caps. (They've been getting substantially physically smaller over the years) You just want to know about capacitor electrical characteristics. I'll let others here give you electrical...

Did you check to see if the intensity control pot itself is bad?

    Glass Tube Fuse Identification

I don't have the information at my fingertips, but it will designate the physical size of the fuse. There are a lot of different physical packages for fuses, and that is supposed to identify the type you have.

Complete noob looking for some advice

I'd try Googleing this. There are probably a lot of people out there who wanted something like this, and I'd guess that there are plans on-line already to make one.

    Screamingly easy o-scope problem

The pushbuttons across the top of your scope are notorious for sticking. Make sure you're not locked-into a memory mode. Exercise the push-buttons a few times.

Need a food safe waterproof insulator to repair Buffalo water heater

You'll have to decide if you can utilize this idea.(My first idea is to just try to get a factory replacement) When we installed thermocouples in corrosive media, we used 'thermo wells' to protect the thermocouple probes. A thermo well is just a sleeve or casing to isolate the probe from the...

    Data RCA 10969

I checked the old data books that I have and could not find this part. I checked my part stock and found a lot of these 5-digit transistors in TO-5 and TO-3 packages. But don't know what industry they were used in. I also have a large stock of old RCA Radio and Electronics components, and they...

Need help with obsolete Motorola components.

This won't help, but it might be informative. I used to repair Stanley swing gates (but not for Stanley). All of their components were proprietary part numbers. When I'd get really stuck the boss would call an authorized Stanley rep and a repairman would come out, fix the controller, and...

    Data RCA 10969

That was the RCA part number system for some of the TO-3 packages in the early 1970's. I'm not home now, I'll check my data sheets when I get home, if I've got any useful information, I'll post it tomorrow.
