    decoder for 8051

It might be a good idea if you knew a LOT about 8051 assembly language. The 8051 architecture is a bit unusual, but IMO it's a nice design and well worth learning. It may be an old design, but NXP, Atmel and others make many 8051-based variants that are widely used, even now...

    Need amplifier advice, PLEASE!!!

Well, we'll see I guess. I strongly recommend that you (the OP) get a copy of the schematic.

    Rain Sensor Status

I only have one interesting capacitor story. Back in the 80s when I was doing my apprenticeship at a consumer electronics repair company, a younger apprentice asked me to help with a switching power supply board from a TV set he was repairing. He powered it up and showed me how it was dead, and...

IR diode+Photo diode sensor for Tachometer

Yes, increasing the resistance. Move the LED and the photodiode to, say, twice their normal spacing and make sure the photodiode still conducts enough that T1's collector goes high.

    Need amplifier advice, PLEASE!!!

You didn't answer my questions and you couldn't know where they would lead. I have plenty of experience fixing music amps. My questions were not stupid; it's just that I don't know that model specifically. There is quite a bit of variation between models. I had already noticed the output ICs...

    Linearity problem on XTR116

You already have your PWM smoothing circuit - it consists of R6, C4 and R1. You just need to remove C3.

    Dynex DX-L42-10A Intermittent Issues

I can't tell much from those pictures, except that you need practice soldering and desoldering SMT components! So I guess the voltage on the back side, on C626 and both sides of L620, is the low 1.6~2.0V voltage, and the voltage on the top side, on the heatsink of N603 and on C621, is the...

    Rain Sensor Status

The green path is the current flow from the AC input, through D1, charging C1. That current keeps C1 charged, and from that point on, it's simplest to think of the rest of the circuit as being powered from C1. The blue arrows show the first part of the current flow from C1, and the return...

    Capacitive Reactance Circuit

LOL :-) I think I'll have the Von Dutch, deep fried, with mustard, fries, and a Heineken :-) That's a pretty clever chip you found there. The example circuit is pretty straightforward and I only counted 26 external components. I guess that's the kind of device you'll find in the PROPER USB...

    RS-232 and LED help

Non-sequitur, I think Bob's response was reasonable under the circumstances - which were that you didn't explain WHY you were going to use such over-specified components, and we didn't know your location. (There is a place for it in your profile, and I recommend that all users fill it in...

fairchild mosfet taken from Mean Well TN 1500 inverter.

Thanks very much for your guidance Steve. BTW the reason for the partly overlapping part numbers could be that the IGBTs were made by Harris (at least, the data sheet looks like a Harris data sheet with Fairchild added at the top). So it looks like it may not be worth trying to repair the...

Need help on converting 0-5v signal to 0-10v signal

I've never heard of an op-amp with an open collector output either. Maybe he's thinking of comparators. You need an op-amp with rail-to-rail input and output. Most of these are designed for low-voltage operation only; 12V is too much for them. Here is a filtered selection guide at Digi-Key that...

    Need amplifier advice, PLEASE!!!

Hi there. It would be pretty helpful to have a service manual, or even just a schematic diagram for that model. I haven't been able to find anything online but if you want to spend USD 8, you can get the schematic from...

    Capacitive Reactance Circuit

Thanks Adam. Yes it's always a pleasure helping chopnhack. Well, I guess I'll be eating my hat when the module arrives! I take your points regarding LED bulbs and economy of scale. I will upload photos. (Of the module, not of me eating my hat.)

fairchild mosfet taken from Mean Well TN 1500 inverter.

That's a TO-247 package, and Fairchild don't make the 12N60 MOSFET in TO-247. It's probably an IGBT, part number HGTG12N60A4D. Digi-Key and Mouser both have it listed, but it is not available, and is flagged as NRND (not recommended for new designs). I'm not experienced with IGBTs so I'll ask...
