    Send the Raspi output to a simple op-amp configured non-inverting multiplier (x2.4-ish) to get 0-8V. Don't bother with the 240V option as it requires dangerous voltage levels at aren't actually required for your application.

    Two diodes will do it. Google 'split battery charging' - it's basically two diodes (suitably rated) in a single package. Charging power in on one terminal, one battery connected to each of the other two terminals. There are many kits available to do this too.
