need help fixing my record player

We'd probably have to look at it. My first guess with 2 yellow wires and 2 red wires, is that somebody may have cut-out a transformer. Are there a couple of screw-holes in the area? Where a transformer might have been mounted? Don't go willy-nilly connecting those wires to a wall socket or you...

    Hilti tools service lights

We're not ignoring your question. We're just waiting to see if somebody knows for certain about your issue. I can only speculate. My speculation is that the manufacturer disables the tools solely because it's time for them to be oiled and service-checked. Whether that's done on a long-duration...

need help fixing my record player

Before you plug it in again, look it over for any burned parts, or physical problems. The wires may have been cut, to remove a circuit (like a AC/DC adapter circuit). I don't know another reason why somebody would cut wires inside a chassis like that.

Stranded Hookup Wire and Logic Circuits?

Ahh Soo. Now we come to the root of the problem. I didn't think about the fact that this was a 'review' about a Radio Shack product. It was probably somebody's opinion, without real basis in recognized electronic theory. I do see the point of stress on stranded-wire leads making physical...

    Capacitor discharges rapidly

Harald is giving you the best suggestions. Since you're having this particular problem with your cap, I'd be looking at replacing the cap and checking the cap solder connections to the board first (Kemet IS a high quality mfgr). I don't think the composition of the pad will matter here. Tin...

    Capacitor discharges rapidly

I don't know, but I'll mention what I'm thinking. The surface mount caps have metal end-caps for connecting the device to the board. It might be possible that high pressure air is affecting that bond. Maybe flexing the metal end-caps, or allowing moisture to temporarilty lodge between the...

Stranded Hookup Wire and Logic Circuits?

I've never heard that before. Like you, I use stranded 22ga specifically because it's more flexible. Were any specifics mentioned in the article? I don't know, like high frequency or some other variable?

    amplifier carlsbro powerline 2800

I'd check to make sure the output power knob is not maxed-out, then look for fuses. Amps typically have a power supply fuse, and two additional fuses on the speaker outputs.

    Samsung DSB-B560N DVB receiver

Have you got a manual on it? There may be some kind of reset that must be performed. You usually need passwords and/or pin codes to select channels. I'm wondering if having moved it from the owner to your place, something needs to be reset before it will operate. It's a long-shot, but I'd check...

That's the newest generation of SMT's. They walk away on those little SMT legs after you set them down.

    Multimeter DT9205A problem

Sometimes manufacturers make 'all-purpose' boards, but don't install some components in instruments that don't have certain 'extra' options. If a part is missing, it doesn't necessarily mean that one should be there for the model/revision/ or options in your instrument. You may have knocked...

Mini hi-fi Sony FH-B411 cd player won't play music, but tray works perfectly

Yeah, either way, you're going to have to open the unit. It might be as simple as a switch that closes when the CD tray closes, and tells the player to start 'spinning' to read the disc. If you open the case and observe what happens when you insert a CD, it might point you in the right direction...

    Electric Shutters

The obvious question, is if you can find any type of company identification anywhere on the electronics or the shutters themselves. Barring that, did you try Googling the 'AD6-16', and see if it points you in the direction of the company that made them. Since the door shutters are unused and...

    Tektronix 2215A

All good advice above. The first thing I'd do however, is increase the CRT 'intensity' pot, to see if those signals become visible.

    Hi-Fi System Help?

I agree with davenn & olive2222. The sound depends on your personal taste. It may just be me, but since you asked about bass response, my personal OPINION is that some of the Japanese audio gear (now made mostly in China), is a little bit lacking in the bass department. I will say this in...

    Common mode noise ??

It'll be hit and miss. You have to identify the source, and then work to reduce it. Shielding your components while testing will be your best hunting tool.
