    Well, as last resource, remove insulation of the bare cable end male, fit it into the hole; tie a knot so will not suffer stress if pulled, solder to the wires left inside. In other words, eliminate the RJ connectors with a direct soldered wires joint.

    Before giving up if unsuccessful head scratching; and solder joints are healthy, replace the resonator with one with the same frequency; usually canibalizable from another discarded remote control. It is the part that suffers the most due to being dropped.

    Let it off a good while and turn on with a cotton ball soaked in acetone/alcohol on top of components that heat up. If runs longer, a component thermal failure is to suspect, or overvoltage causing such. What is the voltage reading on the power rails, and how clean/spikesfree is the power when on ?

    Blinking lights with RF from nearby cell phone antenna

    My hotspot device for internet wears a led collar and turns it on when there is activity. The 'collar' is a 5cm diameter wire loop in series with a Ge diode and a LED. Try if a nearby enough cell tower does anything. I do not think so. They cannot be beyond 5 Watts.
