How come these alligator clips only transfer electricity when swapped at the battery terminals?

Again, your explanation and photo doesn’t tell us much. Is this cable terminated with a DC barrel jack and crocodile clips only?. No other ‘box’ in between?. Use your multimeter to check each wire for continuity then swap the probes and check again. Martin

    Noisemaker Revenge Machine

Short answer is yes you can provided the motor is 12 volt. As it had no markings on either motor, we don’t know for sure. Also running at 100% is not a good idea for any component. Martin

Repair to Control Board PCB of Whirlpool Oven

A lot of desoldering and soldering is necessary for checking components out of circuit. If you are sensitive to the fumes, I suggest you employ somebody to repair it for you. An ESR meter is part of your electronics repair kit. “Gun shooting” electrolytics is common sense when the board is out...

    120vac to 0-90vdc motor drive

Why an element? Why not a motor?. You can find motors in broken devices all day. Printers, toy cars, trains, VCRs, washing machines, drills, sanders, battery vacuum hoovers, battery fans. Also a vehicle breaking yard: windscreen wiper motor, windscreen washer motor, electric windows, mirrors...

Trying to reconfigure this jump start/peripheral connector cable thing

To avoid confusion, can you supply another photo with the wires seperated?. Overlapping black wires are not easy to define. Especially when one is connected to the positive lead. Also, which connector has what? Put paper underneath and make a note for us. Clearly you have positive and negative...

Electronics on race bike. (6 to 12 Volts conversion)

@Roofermom You’ll need to start a new thread rather than ask in a 9 year old post. It is possible but you’ll also need to change the 6V motor along with any other 6V components. This assumes it’s a 6V electric bike with a 6V motor and not an engine. Martin

Is it better to step up or down the voltage?

I personally wouldn’t go with that. I would go with a computer PSU (ATX) type for the 12V, 5V and 3.3V but keep the laptop PSU (19V) separate. No real reason other than gut feeling. Martin

Three way switch selection for switching aux phono output

Wouldn’t a ‘make before break’ connect two sources together?. I would have thought a ‘break before make’ would be suitable for signal path. Martin

    Noisemaker Revenge Machine

A very popular misconception. You can’t supply current. The device will take what it needs. Using a 10A adapter on a 1A device will be absolutely fine. The device will draw what it needs. OTOH, using a 1A adaptor on a 3A device may overload it or simply ‘rotate’ slower. The ratings that you see...

Help RGB LEDs Keep Blowing The Control Box

Without knowing your setup, 3 things can be at fault. 1. Power adaptor (if it has one). 2. Control box 3. LED strip You replaced the control box so leaves only 2 more things that can be faulty. If it doesn’t have a power adapter, that leaves only 1 item, the LED strip. Martin
