    Circular?

Do you still have the files that I could use to practise with?

Please Help!!! Need circuit board that can independently fire 22 leds.

Look at any 4-16 line decoder (74LS154 etc) which will 'drive' any one of 16 outputs based on a 4-bit input. With 5-bits you can use two of them for 32 potential outputs.

    2N4917 equivalent

Got a schematic? The transistor is a plain old PNP silicon and any low power device will suffice i.e. BC557, 2N3906, BC327 etc. I doubt the diode requirement will be more than what a 1N4148 can deal with either - a schematic would confirm.

It would occupy one drawer in my component storage system and there's usually space for 100 or so in each and I have a few spare drawers! I suspect @(*steve*) has a similar system????? An empty drawer is seen as an excuse to purchase more bits!

    Reverse engineering of temperature sensor

What I was getting at was how the signal is subsequently processed. You might have found (for example) that the processing circuitry delivered an RS232 (somewhere) as part of its function - many digital measuring gauges have such, as the hacking fraternity will attest to - which would be easier...

Arduino reading double-din radio volume rotary dial knob

Quite right. I was thinking of a different type of encoder  I can't quite see the marking on the control but the tracks look to have the centre pin grounded and the A/B pulses on the two outer pins (pulled high by resistors).

Technics SA-CH550 panel very dim, is it fatal

Typical VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) degradation. Some people talk about over-driving the filament to burn off any contaminates and improve display performance but that's a pretty hit'n'miss solution with the chance of simply blowing the element completely. Other than a display replacement...

    Reverse engineering of temperature sensor

What does the signal feed? Is it analogue or digital? How does it display the data normally?

Arduino reading double-din radio volume rotary dial knob

There are three connections on one side of the control, two on the other. The 'two' will be the push-to-make contacts of the rotary 'push' function. One side may be grounded and the other floating at +5V (grounded when the button is pushed). The 'three' connections will be +5V, 0V and the...

Using smd solder paste on pc board that no smd on pc board

    1. yes 2. yes - but why? Normal rosin-cored solder and a soldering iron is the usual method. But whatever floats your boat!

    74166 8 bit shift registers

Your symbol just uses different pin designations - compare the pin numbers to those of the datasheet and you'll see how they 'match'. The 'General Description' on page 1 of the data sheet explains how the device works and how signals propagate. Suggest you mark up the data sheet pins to match...

    Circuit not working

Your logic inputs (switches) should not 'float' - use a resistor (10k will do) between each input and ground to set a logic 0 level. Same for the /MR pin on the SR. You can't tie the two OR gate inputs together without setting a logic level either...... You will also need another diode at the...

Sony CDP-CX355 table error belts already changed help please

There will be some form of 'tray detect' switch that indicates when the tray is at the 'in' position - possibly a simple two-contact lever switch - that may require contact cleaning. Some pics of the internals would go a long way for us to assist.

    Philco Radio Parts Identification

Best method would be to source the schematic - which is very likely easily available (as below) - and essential for anyone doing restoration work. The 'wax covered thing' looks to be an inductor - the schematic doesn't give a value but does show it to have a DC resistance of 9.5Ω. You'll have...
