    It look like a sort of charge pump circuit the A.C voltage rides on the D.C level from the rectifier. Not sure about C2, only thing I can think of is it is applying a load to the transformer when then battery is removed, crude regulation. Thanks Adam

    Hi Steve yes I have several Arduino PCBs but I prefer the Chip-Kit Uno32 which uses a 32 bit microchip micro. You could use the A/D channels to set the on and off times and with a simple POT and change the timings yourself.... that would be the way to go I think. Adam

    If the PSU has a current mode, thats if you can limit the current and its constant current mode. Then just set the current to three Amps and connect the fuse across it. See what happens. Set the voltage to only few volts, that should be fine. Adam
