What's with the 'Ads By Google' all the time now?

OK, I'll check into this. All of the sudden, I'm getting Google ads for electronic distributors up the ying-yang. They show-up in between most every post I read now. Thanks for the report.

What's with the 'Ads By Google' all the time now?

Is it my computer not blocking spam, or are we now infiltrated by Google?

Repairing a Sony DVD Recorder Model RDR-GXD500

Probably because it's Sony, and they're notorious for proprietary work. I have a Sony DVD recorder. If you don't finalize the disc, it won't play on a DVD player. *steve* may be right, that's it's a software issue from Sony, but it's a fact. I've taken Sony Beta and DVD recorders to local...

    symbol clarification

What's the make and model. Some power supplies have 'sense' lines, but in the U.S. they're usually designated 'S'. It'd help if we knew what you were looking at.

CRT TV No vertical deflection after changing vertical ic and capacitors around it.

'L' on the board silkscreen deotes an inductor. I don't know what your internet article covered, but I suspect it was in reference to your CRT (cathode ray tube) picture tube. The 'yolk' assembly is the wire-wound part that is around the neck of the picture tube. The television circuit...

CRT TV No vertical deflection after changing vertical ic and capacitors around it.

We don't know what country you're in. If you have access to NTE replacement parts, the 1N4937 crosses to: NTE552 Like KJ6EAD mentioned, the suspect parts he mentioned, are your more likely causes. I assume you can make some simple resistance checks with an ohmmeter?

Roberts Revival - is it broken????

The tuner works, so your radio works. I'm not familiar with that brand, but it sure sounds like your output amplifier is not working. You sound like you're not a do-it-yourselfer electronics type. If Duke37's checks don't help, yeah, I'd use the ebay return policy.

    Component from ATX PS

Ahh Sooo, I'm out-of-date, and my knowledge-base shows it. I don't recgonize the company logo on the top left. Maybe Chinese with a whole new set of part number prefixes to learn. Thanks for pointing out what I missed.

    Sony Betamax capacitor identification

Good for you lyokian159. Don't tell anybody, but I've got three Betamax recorders I keep functioning, ... you know, just in case. I too hope it's just your cap. If I was you,l I'd trace the circuit back, just in case something else failed, to blow the cap.

    Wetsern Electric 41BB 41AF 41AB 41S 41DK

They're going to be proprietary part numbers for Western Electric. They did it so only they would be able to repair the equipment. They may be generally available parts, or ones made for a specific purpose for Western Electric circuits. Only way you're going to be able to find out, is to...

DF211 SILICONIX Gold Old Type Package 28-PIN

I've heard tales that organizations are going back through old data sheets, and putting them on-line. I think it's an Urban Myth. There's no money in it for the manufactturer to go back and put all their printed specs on the computer for something they don't sell anymore. This has happened...

    Component from ATX PS

Trivia. This is a new one for me. A lot of times manufacturers will prefix their parts with a designator to show who made the part, but I don't remember seeing this done with early transistors. Typically 'DG' prefixes are used by Harris, SGS, Intersil, and Maxim. Harris was around before...

    Help me diagnose circuit problem

Somebody here might help you, but I recommend against it. Replace the ballast with the correct part. You're messing with a fire hazard. I know you want to learn, play with it all you want. When you reinstall the lighting fixture, don't leave your experiement with it in the ceiling. Good Luck.

    Parallel port relay problem

Not a lot to work with here. You may have a relay board control problem, but since it's an older unit, I'll ask: Does the Control Board have a battery back-up for the memory, and does the battery need to be replaced? Another question is if this problem just started, or has it been like this...

Opamp current sense + peak detect is ok?

eem2am, I've been trying to figure-out your posts. I think it would help a lot if you would tell us what you're trying to do. I'd hazard a guess with your posts about precision op amps and differential amplifiers, that you're working weighing or scales? Your concerns about precision in the...

    Motor type?

Your motor ID plate says it's a 'Single Phase Asynchronous Motor for Air conditioning'. Typically, an Asynchronous Motor is a slip-ring rotor, or Squirrel-cage rotor. So it's not Split Cap or Shaded Pole. The other issue is whether or not your VFD is single-phase or three-phase. I think you...

    Motor type?

I can't think of anything on the ID plate that is missing. What type of motor do you think you need for your VFD?

    Heat Shrink Tubing

The smallest I've ever seen is 3/64" (If they make smaller, I don't know what it is). I use this on TO-92 Pkg transistor leads and 1/8W resistor leads. It works good for that. My package says Pro Power (Formerly SPC), FPS-003-4025-BLK (1.169mm ID) In a store, I'd ask for 3/64" shrink tubing.

    Help with reading schematic

Got an electronics store near you? (Electronics Parts Store, that is) There are a number of concise books available to learn symbols for electronic parts. If you know the terms you're looking for, you can Google lots of information on what the parts are, what they do, and how they work in a...

    Diode identification

Somebody may come on with a better explaination after mine. My experience with your issue, is that I would not assume the 'C24' designates one of the diodes you found on Google. The 04.42 is probably the date code 2004, forty-second week of manufacture. (But somebody else might know better...
