    The wiring is clearly labeled on the radio. The left and right speakers do not share the same ‘positive’ wire. The speakers are blue=left and green=right. They do share the negative = black. Martin

    Yes, you have some sort of earth/ground fault. But having said that, those testers are the worst. The neon can glow due to the bodies capacitance. You may find there is a break in the earth connection. Don’t rely on these cheap dangerous neon testers. You are only one resistor away from line...

    As already asked above “what line tester”?. If a simple bulb affair, yes it will as the neutral is connected to earth/ground. If it’s a decent plug in type like Fluke, no it wont light unless live/neutral or earth are reversed. Martin

    You need ten turns on the coil. You can avoid a shock by placing tin foil on your head and covering your ears. Only then you can touch the capacitor terminals. If it hurts to touch it, try not to do it again. Martin

    Don’t go buying anything just yet. This is purely a guess as per the colour bands. My guess is a 9.7v zener diode. Please wait for confirmation or not!!. I have seen similar which have simply been 1N4148 signal diodes. Martin

    My smartphone has a TRRS 3.5mm connector. The speaker cuts out when the headset is plugged in or a dummy TRRS jack. Just tried it. Then again, is the iphone 5 really smart?. Martin

    If you are lucky and tha TVs have the same boards, then it might work. It certainly doesn’t for the JVC TVs that I have. You have to try it and see if the firmware works on another TV. Martin

    Use a current limiter bulb. It will save you keep blowing components. There is obviously a dead short somewhere. Martin
