    Yes, the bridge diodes were incorrect. Well, I have checked both units. Both have approx same voltages. Except with the tube disconnected. Tube disconnected and Q1. B 3.7V, C 330V and E 7V. With tube connected, Q1. B 315V, C 310V and E 210V. Same for the second unit. Q2 on both units, C 315V...

    Quite amusing update. Just took my circuit board out and plugged it in. It’s not working now!. I’ll have to get my 2nd one out to check this one now. That DB3 may well be a TVS. Edit- My neutral wire fell out. There are lots of dry joints too. I will re-flow them all. Martin

    Have you checked the diodes on the base on the transistors?. Also there is DB3? Next to Q2. Biderectional diode? Tranzorb?. Anyhow, I get approx 22Ω both ways on the diodes in circuit.     Sometimes the GND should be in a star/triangle configuration for various reasons. Could be current or losses involved. But I doubt an Arduino and LEDs would suffer at all. You could look for a 'bus bar', either solder type or screw terminal type. Martin

    Yes, that is perfect to get you going. Just be careful of polarity as that unit has no switch to reverse polarity. You may want to cut into the cable and put a connector block or junction box so you can reverse the polarity when needed. Martin

    Sounds to me like the LED switch is probably 12V or 24V auto switch. Or 110V - 220V. Maybe your 7V battery is not able to illuminate the LED. Have you got a link to the switch? I just re-read your post. The switch LED will need a positive and negative to illuminate. Your strobe should be wired...
