That's ok, looks like Chris is on the case now to help. Adam

Help with crossover repair on MK S–55 tri-pole speaker

Hi Adam . its a metalised capacitor and has no polarity. I must admit It is often printed on them in terms of pico Farads but this is 2.0. Could be 2uF, not sure. The K is the tolerance and is 10%. Others might know, let me get back to you on that. Meanwhile you could lift one leg of the cap...

    Needing a sealing resin

Yes it will. Its like a water proof coating. You can get it spray cans. If you do use it you need to put the PCB in the oven for an hour to dry it out. Adam

    Needing a sealing resin

If you put the circuit in resin you wont be able to do anything with it if it needs reparing. What about conformal coating, would this work instead? Adam

Help with crossover repair on MK S–55 tri-pole speaker

The yellow component measuring 4 ohms is a capacitor. It might have something connected across it which is why it reads a low value. Can you see by the PCB traces if its connected to anything else? Adam

How can I build a sine wave generator with variable phase?

To be honest I don't think a signal generator will work. The mains waveform in the UK at least is far from a nice sine wave. I wouldn't want you to build something like that and have disappointing results. My personal preference would be to use some kind of transducer to pickup the noise and...

    5v regulator with lm350 with 9v input

Looking in the data sheet will help you. Also here is a link to a lot of circuits that might help. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=lm350+5v+regulator&biw=1307&bih=618&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=fV-RVd7MGYzfUYTEnsAJ&ved=0CCcQsAQ#imgrc=_ Adam

How can I build a sine wave generator with variable phase?

Ok just a thought, what about using a small low voltage transformer plugged into the mains, invert the signal and feed this into the amplifier. I guess this then should track all line transients and harmonics and any change in frequency which is causing the hum. Adam

Need a little help on circuit for 120VAC to 12VDC

Ok M yes that one will allow 5 Amps. But you said originally 7812, most people regard this as a 1.5 Amp device. Thanks Adam

will a basic buffer be sufficient?

Hello Afex54 What do you mean by buffer the gate? Yep this is an ideal buffer, but depending on the speed of the input you may need a few resistors. Tell us a bit more about what you are doing. Thanks Adam

Can I replace a glass fuse with a ceramic fuse?

The ceramic fuses are more thermally stable and don't crack at high temperatures like glass versions can, and the ones we use are filled with sand to prevent the vaporised metal parts sticking to the inside of the fuse and carrying on being conductive for a short time after the fuse has...
