    Repairing NiCd battery packs

The last time I wanted to do what you want to do, it became more economical to just replace the entire vacuum, and use the first one for spare parts. You have to be able to find a really good deal on the NiCad replacement batteries to make it worth your while. By the way, NiCad batteries...

    Ultrasonic Distance Sensor/Alarm

I suppose there might be somethng out there, but I don't recall ever seeing a 360 degree coverage device. You might be having to use at least two or three emitters, to GET 360 degree coverage. There are a lot of relatively simple circuits out there (not 360 degrees alone). Check into the ones...

    HELP Please

Look for a 'Data Sheet' on your IC. Google is probably best. The manufacturer information on the data sheet, should help you greatly. Good luck.

Deja Vu, I thought I recommended NTE345 to you a few days ago. Are you unable to find those where you are?

    Switch questions

The picture and description is for a very common type of switch. But that's ALL it does. They're not INTENDED to vary resistance. I'm thinking from what you've said, you'd use your feet to hit one, then another, then another switch, to increase your volume. That's the CIRCUIT the switches...

Good work edsolo. Glad you're not singing another tune, if you'd blown your money on the wrong problem.

    capacity test

Are you asking for a method of determining the value of the capacitor? Or are you asking for methods to determine if a capacitor is good or not?

DC power supply schematic help needed

Find information on crowbar circuits, and consider that. Most of the good power supplies I work on have them.

    HP 8903A Audio Analyzer schematic

Update for anybody interested. Found a photocopy of a microfiche copy of the schematic I needed. This revision was called 'P/O Change 20', the A2 Input Amp PCB. Only half of it is readable. As near as I can tell, my smoked resistor is R17, a 5.11K Ohm 1% 1/2W resistor. (It's getting a...

SMD Part Marking Code help, I have run out of ideas!

A lot of times when I get stuck on identifying parts, you have to start looking at the manufacturer of the product, and see if you can narrow-down what manufacturers supply the parts to that mfgr. Sometimes it's easier, when you can WHO made the electronic part.

*steve*, Yeah, I kinda figured that's what he/she meant. I was wondering what kind of class the person was taking, that would use that term. Physics maybe?

    Question about Electronics/Bench Technician Job

I guess I should have asked first; Do you WANT to be a bench technician? You sit in one place all day, working on building or repairing electronic equipment, boards, or assemblies. Some people hate doing that. But if you get a job in the electronics field, it'll be easier getting the next...

    Question about Electronics/Bench Technician Job

What's the name of the company (did they say?) A bench tech just sits in a shop and does work, as opposed to a 'field tech', who goes out on jobs elsewhere. What they'll want to know (unless it really IS an entry level job), is if you can work on their gear. Some places want experience on...

Sony XR-C5300, car radio -failed tuner block

My bet is moisture causing short, but wouldn't know where. Radio was used, making it warm, condensation forming when the car was off and in the cold. Sorry no help, but that's my guess on what caused it to fail.

home stereo hum on FM only

Like Resqueline so eloquently put it, the problem is in your FM circuit. I'm betting on an old electrolytic cap that dried-up, and will need to be found & replaced.

Phillips LCD will not power on

Before we get too technical. Have you got an ohmmeter? Before I went troubleshooting the circuit, I'd pull that white fuse next to the power input plug, and check it for continuity. The fuse doesn't need to LOOK burned, to be blown.
